Data Migration from to Version 5

This section will be an overview of project data transfer from Fieldprint Version 4 to the newly launched Version 5. It will outline the details of this data migration and other relevant information.

The Field to Market team has migrated all completed data that currently exists on Version 4, from all past years of activity. Project data will be moved over in batches during the month October to ensure a smooth and seamless as possible.

When migrated data is first moved over from V4 to V5, it will be marked as “migrated data” on the Historical Crop Intervals landing page. This data will not initially be able to be edited until the user reviews the historical crop intervals for non-migrated data and checks off the “mark as complete” box at the top of the page. After marking as complete, users will be able to edit the migrated data.

View the video below to see a high-level overview of the migration decision; you can also learn more by downloading the spreadsheet below (coming soon) and reviewing our Input Change article.

Data Migration for Fieldprint Projects

Field Associations and Re-calculations

Field association for projects are now completed at the Crop Interval level once the farm has been opted into the project. Learn more about how to opt-in to a project here.

Fieldprint analysis will not automatically be run on the migrated data that is moved into Version 5. Projects administrators and platform users will be the ones to run the re-calculation of migrated data on Version 5, either at initial login after the Field to Market team has notified you that your project’s data migration is complete, or at any time after this point the user chooses to do so.

Project Claims and Reporting

Prior to making claims, all data must be recalculated on the most recent version of the Fieldprint Platform. The exception to this is if all data for the project year was finalized prior to migration.

Projects hosted with QDMPs cannot make claims until they have updated their coding to match the current version of the Platform.

Fieldprint Analysis reports remain available; however, only the indicator scores, field boundary and soils information will be on the report.

The Comprehensive Data Output File (version 4), is currently being reworked to be more user friendly for Version 5.

QDMP Migration

The Fieldprint Platform Version 5 is a launch of Version 5 of Field to Market’s Fieldprint website which does not encapsulate an immediate update to Verion 5 of Fieldprint on Qualified Data Management Partners (QDMP) platforms or websites. The Field to Market team has been and will continue to work with our QDMP organizations to update their Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to Version 5 of Fieldprint. If you are a QDMP representative, or just have a general question about this process, contact Paul Hishmeh (phishmeh@fieldtomarket.org, Vice President of Science and Technology for more details.
