Key Details

The following key details will be added to as more are warranted to highlight from the migration spreadsheet. These items represent the changes that have affected the data migration:

  • Abandoned Acres: Data for abandoned acres were not migrated. Many users did not use this input. In Version 5 (V5), users will be able to add abandoned acres as an Activity. Acres will be for the whole field and not a partial amount, which was supported in Version 4 (V4).
  •  Activity Dates: In Version 5, all operational tasks such as harvesting, planting, fertilizer applications and spraying are grouped under a unified category called “Activities.” These are now treated as distinct events. Unlike Version 4, which did not ask users to assign specific dates to individual activities, V5 requires each activity to have a date. As part of the data migration from V4 to V5, each activity has been assigned its own date.
  • Windbreak – Shelterbelt. The section that asked about establishing a windbreak-shelterbelt that was in the ‘Management’ section of V4 has been moved to be a Conservation Practice option in Version 5.
  • Lime and Sulfur (Rice) applications from the Managment section in V4 have been migrated to Nutrient Application – Commercial Activity.
  • Rice Harvest Aids: Harvest aids are now under the same umbrella as Herbicides. Migrated data on harvest aid usage will map to the number of Herbicides used.
  • Rice Standard Moisture: Rice will now follow a standard moisture of 14%. In V5 as with V4, the user will still enter the percent moisture removed during drying, from which the moisture at harvest can still be derived. For data migration from V4 to V5, rice yields entered by the user in V4 will be converted to a common standard yield following Eq. 1 in the Methods documentation.
