Indicator Changes

Major updates have occurred to the Fieldprint Platform that will significantly enhance user experience, measurement of environmental impacts, and ability to identify opportunities for improvement. Key features will include:

  • A Quantitative Soil Carbon Metric
    • Version 5.0 replaces the qualitative Soil Conditioning Index with a quantitative metric, SWAT+ (Soil and Water Assessment Tool Plus), a process-based model that quantitatively estimates soil carbon stock changes
  • Revised GHG Emission Metric: Quantifying greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural production. The update adds four additional GHG quantification methods covering:
    • CHâ‚„ flux from non-flooded soils
    • COâ‚‚ from lime applications
    • COâ‚‚ from urea fertilizer
    • Direct land use change emissions
  • Revised Energy Use Metric
    • Measuring the cumulative energy demand associated with crop production
  • New Data Approaches
    • Version 5.0 will now feature a multi-year field history approach to improve sustainability analysis, provide continuity for crop rotation insights, and support soil carbon modeling. Also, Version 5.0 will no longer restrict users to a single crop interval in a single year and there will be support for non-Field to Market crops in history to support Soil Carbon.
